Into the Wild OC Trail Run 10k/21+k 2011

Full results below.

Trail running is a continually changing adventure triggering all your senses. The crisp clean air swirling into your lungs, the mud squishing under your feet , finding the proper foot placement, balancing on top of rocks, the water crossings, the views, the smells, the sounds, and did I mention the challenge to the human body. Whether it is spring, summer, winter, or fall you will find beauty and excitement each time you run the trails.

The inaugural "Into the Wild OC Trail Run 2011" was a huge success bringing out 170+ trail runners. To make this event successful everyone involved was more than supportive especially the OC Park department, the park rangers, our wonderful volunteers, and our sponsors. We certainly appreciate all the help. As race directors, we hoped to leave a lasting impression and give back to you the racers with beautiful terrain, a challenge for yourself, a shirt you can actually wear, and nice goody bag. We hope it was well worth it and that you will come back.

March 26th, 2011 the skies opened and the morning rain stopped. The 21k racers hit the trail at 7:07am. This course would challenge them! It consisted of approximately 3000 feet of climbing over 14 miles. It had everything from mud, to rain ruts, rocks, puddles, wide trails, single track trails, steep up and down climbing and descending. Yet, their pain would be masked at times by the vision of the new spring grass, wild lupine, wild daisies, and wild mustard that covered the hills. The 10kers left the start line approximately 30 min later to experience slippery and muddy trails. Yet, they would feel like kids again running in the mud and hearing the sounds of crunching oak leaves below their feet. The sights and smells would trigger memories from childhood and they would experience an adventure of a lifetime out "In the Wild!"
